Gurgaon: A man allegedly strangled his wife to death at their rented house in the Khandsa area and later tried to mislead his in-laws by saying he just assaulted her. After strangling Sheelu (30) to death, the accused, Sunny Dayal, allegedly waited for 12 hours before calling her brother and asking him to take her away, before fleeing from their rented house in Khandsa.Sunny, a native of Kanpur and Sheelu, a native of Auraiya, who worked as daily-wage labourers in the city, had been married for the past eight years and have two children—a seven-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter. In his complaint, Sheelu’s brother Alok said he got a call from Sunny at 3pm on Jan 29, where he claimed that he had assaulted her during an argument.Alok said he alerted his sister Neeraj, who then sent their brother Kapil, who works at an office in Sector 37, to check on Sheelu. When Kapil reached the house, he found Sheelu lying dead on a bed. While the couple’s two minor children were present in the house, Sunny was nowhere to be found. Police were informed soon after and the body was sent for autopsy. Alok added that Sunny frequently suspected Sheelu had extra-marital affairs, which led to frequent arguments and physical abuse. The family alleged that ongoing suspicion and violence ultimately led to her death. An FIR was registered under Section 103 (murder) of BNS and efforts are on to arrest him.
