Guwahati: Union home minister Amit Shah held discussions with the top BJP functionaries of the state, election management committee and the core committee on strategies for the upcoming Assam assembly elections at the state party headquarters here on Friday evening.BJP’s state president Dilip Saikia said, “We are hopeful after the key meeting. He (Shah) has tabled the roadmap on how to go ahead for the upcoming elections. Fighting the elections as NDA was one of the key discussion subjects during the meeting. We will contest the election as NDA and are optimistic to secure seats more than the 2021 assembly elections and form govt again. No discussion on seat sharing took place in the meeting.”
Saikia added that the matter of seat sharing with the allies will be finalised soon.A party spokesperson said that it was a closed-door meeting with senior leaders, as BJP seeks a third straight term in the state. “Select members of the election management committee and the state core committee participated in the meeting. The discussion revolved around the assembly elections,” he said.
