Surat aims to recycle 100% of construction waste in 2 years

Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is aiming to recycle 100% of construction and demolition waste within two years. The SMC has set up a system to ensure that construction waste generated in the city does not end up at dump sites but is instead recycled at project sites or the designated recycling plant.SMC’s construction and demolition waste recycling plant at Kosad can scientifically process 300 tonnes of building debris a day. The plant was established under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Currently, around 80 tonnes of demolition waste is recycled at the facility each day. This waste is being used to make paver blocks and other construction material.
