Kolkata: No coercive action will be taken against BJP neta Suvendu Adhikari in the Chandrakona case, the state told Calcutta high court on Thursday.In his plea, Adhikari submitted that on Jan 10, his convoy was attacked and, despite the presence of police personnel, no preventive measure was taken. He said the miscreants also tried to set his vehicle on fire.Adhikari claimed that a “cross-FIR” was registered against him and moved the single-judge bench of Justice Suvra Ghosh. His counsel said around 47-48 FIRs were registered against Adhikari since he defected to BJP in 2020.The state counsel submitted that they would take more time to argue the case. The matter will be next heard on Feb 19. In connection with the same incident, Adhikari also moved the division bench of Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Partha Sarathi Sen, seeking a minimum distance of 200 metres between police personnel and the opposition leader’s convoy.
