New plaintiffs join class action against Cognizant’s TriZetto over data breach

BENGALURU:New plaintiffs have joined the class action against Cognizant’s subsidiary TriZetto, seeking damages exceeding $5 million, along with injunctive relief, including improvements to data security practices. According to the recent complainants, an unauthorised party accessed TriZetto’s web portal in November 2024, with the breach remaining undetected for nearly one year.The exposed data allegedly includes names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers and health insurance identifiers. Plaintiff Dante de la Pena filed a class action against TriZetto Provider Solutions, and San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP).Plaintiff Sharyn Anne Limbos Vadla alleged Cognizant and TriZetto stored sensitive data and failed to follow industry-standard security practices. When TOI reached out to Cognizant, its spokesperson said, “TPS takes the protection of information very seriously and regrets any inconvenience this incident may have caused. Because this matter involves ongoing litigation, we are unable to provide further comment at this time.”
