BMW i7 electric sedan clocks 1,000 sales in India: Luxury features decoded

BMW India has announced that the BMW i7 luxury electric car has crossed the 1,000-unit sales milestone in India, marking a significant moment for the country’s growing premium electric vehicle segment. The achievement shows that buyers in this space are becoming more comfortable with making the shift to electric, especially when it doesn’t mean giving up on comfort, performance or premium features. BMW says that the i7 has set a new standard for electric mobility in the country, combining sustainable innovation with the pinnacle of automotive opulence.

As the vehicle of choice for those seeking the pinnacle of luxury, the BMW i7 continues to shape what’s next and define our clear leadership in the luxury electric segment.”The BMW i7 eDrive50 uses fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, centred around a highly integrated electric drive unit. It’s powered by a 101.7kWh battery pack paired with a single e-motor, which puts out 449hp of power and 650 nm torque and has a claimed range of 603 km in one full charge. The BMW i7 takes around 10 hours and 45 minutes to charge from 0 to 100 per cent using an 11 kW AC charger, while BMW says a 195 kW DC fast charger can top it up from 10 to 80 per cent in just 34 minutes.

Design-wise, the BMW i7 features a gets a massive kidney grille and a split headlamp setup with the daytime running lights up top and main headlamps embedded into the front bumper. Moving on to the back, it gets sleek LED tail lamps stretched to the BMW logo. Moving inside, the luxury EV features a curved screen on the dashboard which joins a 14.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display together. It also gets a massive panoramic sunroof with built-in mood-lit panels. Stepping into the back seats of the new 7 Series and the changes and additions made are even more pronounced. The new 7 series gets an optional 31-inch 8K display that folds down from the roof and stretches across the back seats. The large ‘BMW Theatre Screen’ has a built-in 5G internet connection with Amazon Fire TV, it can be used to stream movies and make video calls and maybe more on the move, all of this can be controlled using touch menus or with a dedicated 6-inch touchscreen that’s built into the rear doors. The Executive Lounge Seating behind the front passenger reclines to 42.5 degrees and it comes with The 7 series comes with an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins setup
