Scribe for writer’s cramp allowed in RO, ARO main exam

Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission approved the provision of a scribe (amanuensis) for a candidate suffering from Writer’s Cramp disease in review officer (RO) and assistant review officer (ARO) main examination 2023. The exam for year 2023 will be conducted this year on Feb 2 and 3 in Lucknow. . A total of 411 posts will be filled through this exam.The decision was taken to provide scribe was taken in compliance with Allahabad High Court’s order, ensuring necessary support for a candidate, Gopal Ji, resident of Jhansi.Although UP govt’s notification issued on Dec 4, 2019, does not specifically list Writer’s Cramp as a qualifying condition for such assistance, UPPSC granted the facility under court directions. The commission specified that the scribe’s educational qualification must be at least two years lower but not over three years lower than minimum qualification required to appear in the exam.According to UPPSC deputy secretary Virendra Mani Tripathi, the candidate is required to bring his own scribe and no travel allowance is provided to the scribe by the commission. The candidate is granted 20 minutes per hour extra time during the exam. The candidate must inform centre superintendent about the scribe and requirement for additional time either a day before or on the day of the examination.The candidate must carry a valid identity card and 2 photographs, while the scribe is required to bring ID proof, a copy of Aadhaar card, address proof and self-attested copies of educational qualification certificates.
