Gurgaon: A six-month pregnant mare was electrocuted at a roadside transformer in Sidhrawali village on Monday morning. The animal died on the spot, while its owner, a cart driver, suffered serious injuries, including a fracture in his right leg. According to the FIR registered, the incident occurred around 9am, when Suresh was on his way to work with his mare cart. As he reached a turn near the village roundabout, the mare came in contact with a transformer and collapsed. Police said they received information from an emergency response vehicle, following which a team reached the spot and found the white-coloured mare lying dead near the transformer, with the cart still stationed on the road. Suresh was rushed to a hospital.Based on a complaint, post-mortem findings and injury report, police registered a case under Sections 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 125A (punishment for endangering human life) and 325 (mischief by maiming animal) of BNS. In his complaint, Suresh said he depended entirely on the mare cart for his livelihood and that the loss of the animal, coupled with his injuries, had pushed his family into financial distress. He sought legal action against the discom, citing public safety concerns.
