200 sanitation workers examined for cancer at PMC health camp

Patna: Free screenings and expert consultations were provided to over 200 sanitation workers and their families at a cancer screening camp organised by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) at Gulzarbagh Stadium under Azimabad Circle here on Thursday.Mayor Sita Sahu and municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena inaugurated the camp in the presence of the Patna civil surgeon. The administration aims to provide primary health check-ups and ensure early detection of diseases through these camps.Sahu said, “The sanitation workers of PMC are the backbone of the city’s cleanliness system. Keeping them healthy is our primary responsibility. Lives can be saved through the timely detection and examination of serious diseases like cancer.”Medical teams conducted screenings for oral, cervical, and breast cancer. The corporation has also set up a system for medical guidance and referrals for further treatment based on test results.Meena said, “PMC is committed to the health protection of its sanitation workers. Between Jan 27 and Feb 19, health camps are being organised in a phased manner in all wards so that the maximum number of workers and their families can benefit.” The initiative includes a plan to conduct 60 camps during this period.
