Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police have booked a person for allegedly raping a female singer and cheating her of Rs.1.9 lakh after he “promised” to help her release music recordings. The accused has been identified as Rajwinder Singh of Patiala. A complainant was lodged into the matter on Sept 17, 2025. The woman told the cops that she was undergoing music training in Ludhiana and had uploaded several songs on social media. She alleged that she first came into contact with the accused over phone in June 2024 and they later met, during which the accused allegedly assured her that he would help in producing and releasing her songs. The complainant alleged that on March 19, last year, the accused called her to the house of his brother-in-law, where he forcibly established physical relations with her. She further alleged that on the same day, the accused transferred money from her mobile phone on the pretext of releasing her music cassettes. The Basti Jodhewal police have booked the accused under relevant sections and started further action into the matter. tnn
