Cops rescue girl attacked by ex-lover at Hastings

Kolkata: A 19-year-old college student approached Hastings PS on Wednesday after she was rescued from her estranged boyfriend by a patrol team. The team found the accused trying to throttle her in a deserted corner of St Georges Gate Road. In her plaint, the girl, a resident of the Kidderpore, alleged that she was in a relationship with the accused 2 years ago. However, the relationship soured and she walked out. The accused kept stalking her, after which she lodged a plaint against him last Sept.On Wednesday, the girl claimed, she was on her way to college around 11 am when the accused arrived on a bike and claimed that he was sorry for his behaviour. He said he wanted to speak to her before dropping her at college. When the girl insisted that she be left alone, she was coaxed into accompanying him.Once she reached the crime scene, he began to threaten her, repeatedly asking her to withdraw the case. The accused abused her with objectionable language and outraged her modesty. He also allegedly physically assaulted her. The accused has been detained and cops said he will be arrested.
