1 killed, 3 injured as Thar falls into 100-ft-deep Morni gorge

Panchkula: A 23-year-old man was killed and three others injured, when the Mahindra Thar they were travelling in fell into a 100-foot-deep gorge near Manana village in Morni sometime betwen 1am and 2am on Wednesday.According to police, the deceased was identified as Abhishek, a resident of Sector 15. Vivek, a gym trainer in Sector 14, was on the wheel, while his friends Ayush, Abhishek and Lalit, were also in the SUV.Like Ayush, Abhishek was a student. Lalit was also a gym trainer in Sector 14. Chandimandir police station SHO Rampal Singh told TOI that all three left for Morni at 10pm on Tuesday. When they were returning between 1am and 3am, the driver lost control over the SUV near Manana, which has dense forest and sharp cuts. The Thar fell into the gorge and was badly damaged.After the accident, all lost consciousness. Some time later, Lalit came to his senses and climbed up to the road. He signalled a Haryana Roadways bus, which is the first bus to Morni in the morning, to a stop for help.Police were informed, after which the staff from Morni police post and locals rescued the surviving members and brought Abhishek’s body to the road.All were shifted to the civil hospital.
