8,511 advocates vote in UP Bar Council poll

Kanpur: As many as 8,511 out of 11,908 advocates of Kanpur Nagar exercised their franchise during the two-day Uttar Pradesh Bar Council elections held at Kanpur Nagar.The elections are being conducted across the state, with voting spread over two days. A total of 2,49,918 advocates are registered members of the UP Bar Council, who will elect 25 members. In all, 333 candidates are in the fray, of which 33 belong to Kanpur. Prominent among them are Yogendra Kumar and Pankaj Mishra, both former members of the UP Bar Council. On the first day of polling on Tuesday, around 3,948 advocates cast their votes, while on the second day (Wednesday), as many as 4,563 advocate-members exercised their voting rights at Kanpur centre.tnn
