How argument over household finances killed Delhi Police SWAT commando; husband smashed her head with dumbbell
A 24-year-old SWAT commando of Delhi Police’s special cell, Kajal Chaudhary, succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Ghaziabad on Tuesday, five days after she was allegedly attacked by her husband, Ankur, with a dumbbell in their Mohan Garden home.

DELHI: A 24-year-old SWAT commando of Delhi Police’s special cell, Kajal Chaudhary, succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Ghaziabad on Tuesday, five days after she was allegedly attacked by her husband, Ankur, with a dumbbell in their Mohan Garden home. How events unfolded:

  • Kajal and Ankur, a clerk in the Ministry of Defence, reportedly got into a heated argument over household finances.
  • Kajal called her brother, Nikhil, a constable posted at Parliament Street police station, seeking help.
  • While still on the phone, Ankur allegedly struck her on the head with a dumbbell.
  • Minutes later, Ankur reportedly called Nikhil to inform him of the attack.
  • Ankur initially took Kajal to a local hospital. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, her family later shifted her to a hospital in Ghaziabad.
  • Despite intensive medical care, Kajal passed away. Her post-mortem was conducted on Tuesday.
  • Police said the couple may have had disputes over loans and household expenses.
  • A Delhi Police officer said, “On Jan 22, Ankur banged Kajal’s head against the door frame before attacking her with the dumbbell.”
  • Ankur was arrested hours after the assault based on a complaint filed by Nikhil. The case, initially registered under attempted murder, will now be upgraded to murder charges.

The community in Ganaur is mourning for a young commando whose life and career have been brutally cut short.
