AAP MLA threatens Rs 5cr defamation case over Rs 30L bribe charges

Bathinda: Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Maur MLA Sukhbir Singh Misaerkhana has served a legal notice on nagar council president Karnail Singh seeking his apology for his bribery charges against him within 15 days or face a defamation suit of Rs 5 crore.Karnail Singh, during a Republic Day programme at Maur town in Bathinda, accused the AAP legislator of taking Rs 30 lakh from him for the top post. On Wednesday, Misaerkhana said the allegations were made under a conspiracy to defame and politically harm him ahead of the upcoming elections to the urban local bodies. Misaerkhana told TOI that he felt mentally tortured over the false and concocted allegations of appointing Karnail Singh as NC president and selling the ticket for the byelection for the nagar council upon the death of his wife. “The allegations were politically motivated and without any evidence. If he had any proof to substantiate the allegations, he should have done so,” he said. MSID:: 127696514 413 |
