2 arrested for attack, phone theft in Shillong

Shillong: Police arrested two men for their alleged involvement in an assault and mobile phone snatching incident in the Golflinks area of Shillong on Tuesday.According to the Pasteur Beat House, the arrests followed an FIR lodged on Jan 22. The complaint stated that on Jan 21, at around 6:30pm, two pedestrians were assaulted and their mobile phones snatched by two-wheeler riders near the CM Connect building in Golflinks.

The accused, identified as Kitbok Thabah alias Koi (29) and Daniel Syiemlieh (23), were arrested from Golflinks Khliehshnong and Nongmynsong Dongkamon localities respectively, East Khasi Hills superintendent of police Vivek Syiem said.Police recovered the stolen mobile phones and seized the scooter used in the crime. Investigation into the incident is underway. A case has been registered under Sadar police station under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
