Delivery executive assaulted in Gurgaon, bike stolen; 3 minors among 4 held

Gurgaon: A Zomato delivery executive was assaulted and robbed of his motorcycle by four youths, including three minors, in Sector 84 late on the night of Jan 25.The police on Tuesday arrested a man and apprehended three juveniles in connection with the incident, and also recovered the stolen motorcycle and a mobile phone used to carry out the offence. According to the complaint lodged at Kherki Daula police station, the victim was on night duty and had picked up an order from Sector 82. When he reached Sector 84 to deliver the food, four youths arrived to receive it. They then assaulted him and fled with his motorcycle, leaving him injured.Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of BNS and scanned the area, gathered technical inputs and conducted local enquiries to identify the suspects.On Jan 28, police held all four accused from Sector 84. The adult was identified as Abdul Amin, 20, a resident of Kamardanga village in Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal. He was produced before a city court on Tuesday morning, while proceedings against the minors were initiated under Juvenile Justice Act.ā€œDuring interrogation, the accused said that they planned the crime in advance. They placed the food order using a mobile phone with the intention of luring a delivery executive to the spot. After assaulting the victim, they fled with his motorcycle and planned to sell it and share the proceeds among themselves. The accused were apprehended before they could dispose of the vehicle,ā€ an officer said.
