Ahmedabad: A 21-year-old woman on Tuesday filed a complaint with Madhavpura police, accusing her landlord of trespass, assault, and attempting to force her into marriage by issuing threats, police said.According to the FIR, the woman rented the house in the Madhavpura area eight months ago, supplementing the family income with home-based work, while her husband worked as a daily wager. On Tuesday, around 4pm, when she was home alone, the accused, who lives in the adjoining premises and owns the property, allegedly entered her house as the door was open. The complainant alleged that the landlord forcibly grabbed her and pressured her to marry him, threatening to kill himself if she refused. She further stated that he pulled out a sharp-edged weapon and began injuring himself to intimidate her. The accused also threatened her younger brother who arrived at the scene, and allegedly demanded that he persuade his sister to agree to the marriage.Police said the accused then assaulted the brother, pushed him against the door, and twisted his arm. He fled when the woman and her brother raised an alarm. The accused followed them to their relative’s home and continued to pressurise family members to agree to the marriage, leading to a scuffle. Police were alerted through the control room, and the family later approached Madhavpura police. tnn
