3 of gang that stole bikes parked outside offices, schools held

Noida: Three members of a motorcycle theft gang have been arrested and police have recovered five stolen motorcycles along with dismantled bike parts and tools used in thefts.Additional DCP Shavya Goyal said the accused, part of an organised gang, would conduct reconnaissance at parking areas, corporate offices and schools at night. They used master keys to steal vehicles and changed chassis numbers to avoid identification. Some motorcycles were hidden in bushes along the Yamuna floodplain, while others were dismantled and sold as spare parts, the DCP added.Police recovered five motorcycles of different makes, including Hero Splendor and Honda Dream Neo models. Some of them were reported stolen from various police station jurisdictions in Noida and Delhi. The Splendor was reported stolen by a Greater Noida West resident just four days earlier.Motorcycle parts like engines, chassis, alloy wheels and fuel tanks were also recovered. Two master keys, a hammer and a screwdriver used to break locks and tamper with engine and chassis numbers were also seized.The accused, Jitendra alias Jeetu (34), Shalu (31) and Firoz Khan (28), were arrested by Sector 126 police around 1am on Wednesday during routine checks on the Pusta Road near Sai Temple. Police said Jitendra is a habitual offender with over 20 criminal cases registered against him under various sections related to theft, Arms Act, NDPS Act and cheating across UP and Delhi. The other two accused also have multiple theft cases registered against them. All three accused were produced before the court on Wednesday.
