Prayagraj: The new UGC Bill has sparked anguish even among seers and saint community camping at Magh Mela. Religious entities gathered from all parts of the country at the banks of Sangam raised demand for BJP-led Union govt to withdraw the bill without delay.During a conference at the camp, Jagadguru Swami Narendranand Saraswati Maharaj said the new UGC bill will create rift in society and drive a wedge among Hindus. National president of All India Dandi Sanyasi Parishad, Pithadheeshwar Swami Brahmashram, said the UGC bill was unjust and demanded the govt to not only withdraw the bill but also punish those who drafted it for conspiring to divide India.Jagadguru Swami Ghanshyamacharya Maharaj said we should not depend entirely on govt for protection of cows. Every person must resolve to contribute to cow protection and said roots of Sanatan dharma were deep and anyone who even thought of ending would be destroyed. He opposed the new UGC bill and appealed for unity against it.Jagadguru Swami Krishnacharya Maharaj of Rishikesh said cow protection was akin protecting the nation. Jagadguru Narayanacharya Swami Shandilya Maharaj said govt should not take divisive steps that affect the lives of youth and should immediately withdraw the UGC bill.
