Murder at Ludhiana district’s Talwara shooting range was over Rs-2-crore business dispute.

Ludhiana: The murder of a 24-year-old MBA student at a private shooting range at Talwara last week had followed a violent argument with his business partner over a big investment. The victim, Rajveer Singh of Thareeke, had died at DMC Hospital after a bullet from a high-calibre licensed pistol pierced his body. Police have arrested his close friend and professional shooter, Jugaad Singh Sekhon, in connection with the killing.A Fatal Dispute over FundsInvestigations by the PAU police revealed that the two friends, both from affluent backgrounds, were in the process of launching a spare parts business. The partnership required an equal investment of Rs 1 crore each. Inspector Vijay Kumar claims that the pair travelled to a shooting range in Talwara village on Jan 24, a routine they had established during Sekhon’s practice sessions. While at the range, the conversation turned to their startup, escalating into a heated confrontation as both men accused the other of failing to pool their share of the capital. The ShootingPolice allege that during the argument, Sekhon, acting in a “fit of rage”, turned his 7.6-mm licensed pistol on Rajveer. The victim was shot at close range. “Interrogation revealed that Sekhon did not take the victim to the range with the premeditated intent to kill him,” inspector Vijay Kumar said. “However, the dispute became aggressive, and the accused fired a fatal shot.”Legal ActionAuthorities have recovered the licensed firearm used in the crime. Sekhon now faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 103 (murder) and sections 25 to 27 of the Arms Act, related to the misuse of firearms. The case was registered following a statement from the victim’s father, Jasvir Singh. Both families are well-known in the local community, and the two young men were classmates at the same educational institute. MSID:: 127702276 413 |
