30 nations, 20 states join UP Diwas festivities | Lucknow News

Lucknow: UP Diwas 2026, which began on Saturday, witnessed widespread celebrations across India and the world, marking one of the most extensive global events. Across the three days, UP Diwas was commemorated at over 30 international locations through Indian missions, consulates and diaspora-led initiatives.

On Jan 24, celebrations were organised in countries including Russia, Germany, Maldives, South Africa, Mongolia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Trinidad and Tobago, Norway, Belarus, Sierra Leone, Mexico and Guatemala.

In the US, programmes were held in cities such as Seattle and New York, while Sri Lanka marked the occasion in Colombo and Jaffna. Japan observed UP Diwas in Osaka-Kobe, while events and greetings were also shared from France, DR Congo, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Bahrain, Estonia, Cambodia, Johannesburg and Vancouver.

The celebrations continued on Jan 25 across additional international locations, including Hungary, Togo and Liberia in Africa, Madagascar and Comoros, Malaysia, Chile, Zambia, Denmark and Suva. Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said the scale and continuity of celebrations underlined the deep-rooted cultural bonds that people of UP share with their homeland. UP Diwas was also celebrated across India in nearly 20 states.
