Gujarat leaders mourn Ajit Pawar’s death

Gandhinagar: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel, governor Acharya Devvrat, and leaders across party lines on Wednesday condoled the death of Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, who was killed in a plane crash near Baramati in Pune district.Expressing grief, Patel said the news of Pawar’s death was “extremely sad and heartbreaking.” In a post on X, he extended condolences to the bereaved family and supporters, adding that Pawar’s contribution to Maharashtra’s development and welfare would always be remembered.Governor Devvrat also expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. “I pay my respects to him and convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Om Shanti,” he said in his message.State Congress president Amit Chavda termed the death tragic and prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the family. AAP’s Gujarat unit president Isudan Gadhvi described the incident as extremely unfortunate and conveyed condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in the crash.The Gujarat state cabinet, which met on Wednesday, also passed a condolence message, govt spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani said.Ajit Pawar (66) and four others were killed when the aircraft carrying them crashed near his hometown Baramati on Wednesday morning.
