Pune: Two friends were killed and two others suffered severe injuries after their car went off the road and turned on its side in the early hours of Tuesday near Otur on the Nagar-Kalyan highway, about 100km from the city.The Pune Rural police identified the deceased as Varad Tambe (18) of Otur and Karan Pavale (19) of Pirangut in Mulshi taluka. The injured duo, Abhinav Wakchaure and Omkar Shinde from Ahilyanagar district, are undergoing treatment in separate private hospitals in Otur and Ale Phata. An officer from the Otur police said the accident occurred around 3am on Tuesday when the victims were driving towards Otur from Ale Phata. The driver lost control over the car and it went off the road. The car first hit a tree along the road and then turned on its side. Residents of the area and police personnel shifted the victims to a nearby hospital. “Tambe and Pavale succumbed to injuries,” the officer said.
