Lucknow: On the 77th Republic Day on Sunday, BSP national president Mayawati extended her best wishes to the people and prayed for “a life filled with self-respect to all the countrymen and all Indian citizens living around the world and their families”.“The special significance of the day lies in the fact that, setting aside all the grand promises and claims, it was necessary to honestly assess whether the central and state govts only engaged in deceptive rhetoric, or whether, in saccordance with the true, all-inclusive intentions of the Constitution, the country achieved the expected development in the political, social, and economic spheres of democracy, resulting in much-needed improvements in people’s lives,” she said.
Mayawati said that India, due to its constitutional values, was a moral force in the world.“We need to assess if that situation is still maintained. India didn’t imitate others; the world looked up to India and learned from it. Is the situation the same today?”
