Gandhinagar: Additional chief secretary, revenue, Jayanti Ravi said on Monday that International Medicity will be set up near Kalol with an investment of Rs 13,000 crore.She said it will be modelled on Dubai Healthcare City and aims to put Gandhinagar on the global health map. Ravi was speaking at the flag unfurling ceremony in Gandhinagar on Republic Day.
“The govt is planning to set up International Medicity near Kalol with an investment of Rs 13,000 crore. This project, inspired by Dubai Healthcare City, aims to place Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, prominently on the world health map,” an official statement quoted the official as saying.She said that Gandhinagar is exploring new horizons of development. Known as a Green City, it has become a hub for technology, education, good governance, and infrastructure facilities. She said that the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation’s budget, which was only Rs 7 crore in 2010, has now surpassed Rs 1,700 crore.The official stated that with the four-laning of Pethapur-Mahudi Road, new railway overbridges, and smart drainage systems, Gandhinagar is becoming a Smart City. She added that with the goal of hosting the 2036 Olympics, new sports complexes are being constructed in the district.
