Gujarat: Cong claims Form 7 misused against Padma Shri awardee

Ahmedabad: The state unit of the Congress party alleged on Tuesday that a BJP councillor from Junagadh filled out Form No 7 in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll to delete the name of Haji Kasam Rathod (Haji Ramakdu), who was chosen for the Padma Shri award on the eve of Republic Day this year in the field of art.Congress state media convenor Manish Doshi said that Haji Ramakdu has carved an identity for himself in India and abroad, and it was a matter of pride for Gujarat that he was chosen for the Padma Shri. “A BJP councillor from Junagadh filled out Form 7 to remove his name from the voter list. This is an excellent example of unlawful activities being done in the SIR,” the party spokesperson alleged.
