Speaking to the media after the meeting, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully said the opposition expects impartial conduct by the Speaker and adequate time for discussion on the Budget and the CAG report. He further stressed that voices of all sections—farmers, youth, women, industries, and people from border areas—must be heard during the Budget debate. He said the CAG report should not be treated as a mere formality and that the govt must respond to financial irregularities and administrative shortcomings flagged in it. Jully also urged the govt to avoid guillotining of demands without discussion and to clarify what the Budget offers on key issues such as ERCP, farmers’ income, and employment for youth.Jully said matters such as OBC reservation in the TSP region would be discussed in the Congress legislature party meeting scheduled for Wednesday evening to finalise the party’s strategy, including whether to raise the issue in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).Parliamentary Affairs minister Jogaram Patel reminded the opposition of the need to play a constructive role in the House. “Constructive behaviour and cooperation from both sides are essential for the smooth conduct of the Assembly, especially during the Budget session,” Patel said.
