Jaisalmer: Hours before the Republic Day festivities, Rajasthan CID Intelligence arrested a 28-year-old man in the Sankra police station area of Jaisalmer district early Monday on charges of spying for Pakistan. According to CID officials, the suspect operated an e-Mitra centre near the border and remained in contact with a woman described as a Pakistani handler. He is being taken to the Central Joint Interrogation Center in Jaipur for further questioning by multiple security and intelligence agencies. Inspector General (CID Intelligence) Vishnu Kant said the agency had been monitoring espionage activity in the region and found that the suspect communicated with Pakistani intelligence and passed sensitive information in exchange for money. Initial investigation indicated the suspect used social media to stay in touch with ISI handlers and regularly sent strategic videos. Other official sources said that during interrogation the accused disclosed knowledge of key military sites and movements, and that he remained in contact with handlers during Operation Sindoor, sharing details of army movements. Officials said he allegedly received payments through local Pakistani agents. His mobile phone and computer have been seized for forensic examination as the investigation continues.
