HYDERABAD: Two students died and six others suffered injuries when their car rammed into the pylon of an under-construction elevated way at Medipally on Wednesday.The deceased were Sai Varun, 20, and Nikhil, 20, natives of Wanaparthy. Among the injured are Venkat, Rakesh, Yashwant, Satwik, Harshvardhan and Abhinav. All the victims are students of different engineering colleges in Hyderabad.The mishap occurred while they were travelling from Boduppal to Pocharam IT Zone in a seven-seater SUV. Due to speeding, Nikhil, who was driving the car, lost control and the vehicle crashed into the pylon of the under-construction elevated way at around 2 am, Medipally police said.Alerted by passers-by, Medipally police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bodies of the two deceased students were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem. Three among the injured sustained severe injuries and the rest suffered simple injuries, police said.Police said they were verifying if drunk driving was a factor in the road mishap. A case was registered under sections 106 (1) (causing death due to negligence) and 125 (a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
