Ahmedabad: Six schools from the Ahmedabad district are among 74 institutions statewide selected as ‘Best Schools’ for the current academic year. Under a govt scheme announced in the state budget, each school will receive a financial incentive of Rs 1 lakh. Consequently, a total of Rs 74 lakh is set to be distributed among the selected schools this year to recognize their excellence at the district level.The six schools from Ahmedabad district were presented with the cheques during a programme held on Jan 26. According to official information, a provision was made in the budget for the academic year 2025-26 to reward the best-performing schools at both district and state levels. Under this scheme, three schools from each of the 34 districts were to be chosen. Based on the selection process carried out during the year, 74 schools were ultimately chosen as the best schools.In Ahmedabad City, St Mary High School in Rakhial, Navdeep Vidyalaya and Vidyanagar High School, both in Naranpura, were selected as the best schools. In Ahmedabad Rural, Shri B P Davda Saraswati Vidyalaya of Dholka, R R Dwivedi High School of Vejalpur, and Shri Vaibhavlakshmi Vidyalaya of Mandal were chosen for the honour.
