Arms, explosives recovered from Maoist hideout in Aurangabad

Aurangabad: A team of Aurangabad police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried out an anti-Maoist operation and recovered a huge cache of ammunition and explosive materials from a forest area under Madanpur police station limits on Sunday.Acting on intelligence inputs, the team launched a search operation near Gobardah hill. During the operation, security forces recovered materials allegedly hidden by Maoists, including 44 live cartridges, 32 empty shells, 25 metres of codex wire, 29 commercial detonators, one can of IED fitted with a detonator, a pressure mechanism with two metres of wire, and a 9-volt battery.

Aurangabad SP, Ambrish Rahul, said the recovered IED and detonators were safely neutralised at the spot. He added that an FIR was registered in connection with the seizure with Madanpur police station.He said intensive search and combing operations are continuing to curb Maoist activities and ensure security in the affected areas.
