77th R-Day: Prayagraj takes pledge to contribute towards devpt of country

Prayagraj: To mark the 77th Republic Day celebration, govt organisations, educational institutions and schools of the Sangam city joined the nation by holding cultural programmes and other events at their respective units.Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya unfurled the National Flag at the Police Lines on Monday and took the salute of the parade. He administered the pledge of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution to those present and honoured 11 officers and employees posted in Prayagraj with the Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal. Paying homage to freedom fighters, Maurya said India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy, achieving new milestones under strong leadership of PM Narendra Modi while giving a firm response to terrorism. The Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, Justice Arun Bhansali, unfurled the national flag on the front lawn of the High Court in the presence of all judges, officers of the registry and others. In addition, the Advocate General, Ajay Kumar Misra, unfurled the national flag at the office of the Advocate General located on Kanpur Road.In the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA), the association’s president, Rakesh Pandey, marked the occasion in the presence of all office-bearers of the HCBA, including its secretary, Akhilesh Kumar Sharma. A large number of lawyers were present on this occasion.Likewise, Divisional Commissioner Soumya Agrawal marked the occasion at the Commissioner’s office and administered the pledge of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution to the officers and employees present. She called upon everyone to rise above religion, caste, and discharge their duties with honesty to contribute to the development of the nation and the state. At the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), chairman Sanjay Shrinet also administered the constitutional pledge. Commission members, officers and employees paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. The chairman also inaugurated two newly constructed residential buildings—Saket and Baikunth—within the campus and handed over house keys to Group D and some needy Group C employees. At the headquarters of the North Central Railway (NCR), general manager Naresh Pal Singh inspected the ceremonial parade. Colourful cultural programmes were also held on the occasion. At Allahabad University (AU), vice-chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava unfurled the national flag and said that AU proved to be a nursery for the heroes of the freedom struggle and a breeding ground for new ideas.
