Mizoram CM meets UNDP representative, seeks strong ties

Aizawl: Mizoram chief minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday met Angela Lusigi, resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India, and expressed appreciation for UNDP’s ongoing initiatives in the state, while encouraging the organisation to expand its engagement further.Welcoming Lusigi during her visit, the CM thanked UNDP for its continued support and contributions to Mizoram’s development. He said three districts of the state have ranked among the top performers in the latest NITI Aayog Sustainable Development Index Report and highlighted Mizoram’s reputation as a peaceful state with low levels of corruption.

Lalduhoma also outlined the govt’s long-term vision of enabling Mizoram to contribute one per cent to India’s GDP by 2047. In this context, he urged UNDP to scale up and strengthen its initiatives in the state to help achieve this goal.Lusigi described Mizoram as a pleasant place and acknowledged the progress made in recent years. She briefed the chief minister on UNDP’s ongoing initiatives and priority areas, while seeking details about the state government’s key focus sectors.The chief minister was accompanied by adviser TBC Lalvenchhunga, secretary to the chief minister Vanlaldina Fanai, planning department secretary Lalmalsawma Pachuau, and other officials.
