All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton tournament begins in Jaipur from January 28; Rajasthan’s Anvi Rathore seeded second

Jaipur: The Yonex-Sunrise Sub-Junior (U-15 and U-17) Ranking Badminton tournament will begin at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday.The qualifying round matches will be played on the first four days and will conclude on February 1. The main draw matches will be held from February 2 to February 5. Singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches will be played in the nine-day long tournament. In all, 169 players from Rajasthan will also showcase their strength.The Under-15 and Under-17 matches for boys and girls will be played at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium and Badminton Hall. A total of 16 courts have been prepared for the matches. Around 500 matches will be played on the first day. Players are extremely enthusiastic about the competition and have been practicing vigorously since Monday night.Chief referee Milind Deshmukh of Maharashtra arrived in Jaipur on Monday night. He reviewed the preparations on Tuesday and seemed satisfied with them. The Chief Referee held a meeting with the technical officials and conducted the draw in the presence of the players and their parents.The seedings for the competition were also announced. In the Under-15 Boys Singles category, Shri Chetan Shaurya Shamla has been given first preference and Aditya Singh Negi second. In the Under-15 Girls Singles category, Hamsini Chandaram has been given first preference and Anvi Rathod of Rajasthan has been given second preference. In the Under-17 Boys Singles category, Shashank Vanmala has been given first preference and Viraj Sharma second. In the Under-17 Girls Singles category, Hateyishree Elrajesh has been given first preference and Akya Sethi second. The match controller of the competition will be Praveen Raj of Uttar Pradesh.Deshmukh said that 1489 players are participating in the competition.
