Gorakhpur: Stating that Uttar Pradesh has shed its ‘BIMARU’ tag and emerged as a breakthrough state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that casteist and dynastic forces are unable to accept the state’s new identity. He alleged that these were the same elements who earlier patronised riots and disorder. The CM was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Rs 96.5 crore Khajanchi Chauraha flyover and the Rs 152.19 crore Bargadwa–Nakaha rail overbridge (ROB). He inaugurated the Khajanchi flyover by unveiling the plaque, then opened the ROB to the public. Yogi said UP has transformed from an “uproar state” to a “festival state”, crediting strong law and order for forcing rioters into hiding. “Those who thrived on chaos are troubled today because their livelihood has been hit,” he said, warning that attempts to create disorder will be dealt with firmly.Recalling the pre-2017 period, the CM said the state was marked by fear, riots and insecurity, where neither daughters nor traders were safe. “Those responsible played politics of caste and family, jeopardising the future of the youth,” he said, adding that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, UP now focuses on solutions, development and security. He said improved security and infrastructure have triggered an investment boom, with proposals worth Rs 45 lakh crore promising jobs for 1.5 crore youths.Highlighting Gorakhpur’s transformation, Yogi said the city is now known for four-lane roads, expressway links, GIIDA, a fertiliser plant and AIIMS, instead of mafia, mosquitoes and encephalitis. The 1,092-metre-long Bargadwa ROB will ease congestion at the level crossing and improve connectivity to the city’s northern areas and Maharajganj. The 605-metre Khajanchi flyover links Jail Bypass with Sports College Road, ensuring smoother traffic towards Fertiliser Factory and Sonauli Road.
