Sriganganagar cops seize heroin from Pak worth 5cr, arrest two

Jaisalmer: Sriganganagar police Sunday busted an international drug trafficking network and seized 1kg heroin, worth Rs 5 crore, brought from Pakistan. Two people have been arrested in this regard.The operation was carried out under the guidance of Sriganganagar superintendent of police Amrita Duhan. Police said they broke a well-planned, multi-layered trafficking chain and arrested Alam Khan, a resident of Chhattargarh (Gaurisar), Bikaner, and Shabbir Ali, a resident of Bhutto ka Bas, Bikaner. Investigators described them as key links in moving heroin from Punjab through Rajasthan to the Haryana-Punjab drug network. According to police, the heroin was transported from Amritsar, Punjab, in a Scorpio vehicle. Acting on a tip off, a cordon was laid in Rajiyasar police station area, where a team led by station in-charge Kalawati Chaudhary stopped and searched the vehicle. During the search, police recovered one kilogram of high-quality heroin. Preliminary investigation indicated the heroin was sent from Pakistan and was to be supplied onwards through Rajasthan. Police said Khan and Ali were not direct buyers and worked as professional couriers. tnn
