Chennai: Tension prevailed at Chennai airport on Monday when a man entered the terminal, breaching the seven-tier security deployed on account of Republic Day celebrations.The incident happened around 7am before the flag hoisting ceremony. Security officials noticed a man wandering suspiciously inside the domestic arrival terminal (T1) on CCTV cameras and detained him.
Inquiries revealed the man entered the airport via Gate 3. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel had not stopped him for the mandatory check. The man appeared mentally unstable during questioning, police said.CISF also launched an investigation into how the man entered the airport terminal, breaching the elaborate security arrangements.
