Hyderabad: K Laxman, national president of the BJP’s OBC Morcha and Rajya Sabha MP, on Monday said that Telangana is likely to witness simultaneous assembly and Parliament elections as part of the Centre’s push for ‘one nation, one election.‘Speaking to the media, he said the implementation of the women’s reservation law depends on the completion of the census and constituency delimitation. Laxman said a 33% reservation for women would be implemented in the Lok Sabha elections once these two processes are completed. He added that the national Census is expected to be completed within six months, after which delimitation would begin immediately. According to him, the entire exercise could be finished well ahead of the next elections. He also said the upcoming census would be conducted in a scientific manner and would go beyond a simple population count, helping ensure a smoother and more effective delimitation process.
