Cong foot march highlights 140 years of service, sacrifice

Kanpur: Under the auspices of Kanpur Mahanagar Congress, a foot march as a part of the ‘140 Years of Service and Sacrifice’ campaign was taken out by the UP Congress Committee (UPCC) in south region of Kanpur on Sunday. The march was led by UPCC president Ajay Rai and Mahanagar president Pawan Gupta and was coordinated by AICC member Pratibha Atal Pal. It started from DBS College Kachchi Basti and concluded at Radha Swami Mandir.

Addressing the party workers, Rai said that the foot march was organised with the objective of protecting the country’s constitution, democracy and civil rights and to highlight Congress’s contribution. Congress will never let BJP’s conspiracy and politics of hatred succeed, he said adding that insulting Bapu under MNREGA, injustice being done to workers and insult of saints is due to BJP’s arrogance. BJP, which is working for capitalists, has tampered with the statues of great men and great women at Manikarnika Ghat. Ajay Rai claimed that the alliance will win all seats of Kanpur Mahanagar this time. Mahanagar president Pawan Gupta said that through this foot march, people were made aware of the importance of the constitution and conscious about the attacks on the democratic values.
