His close colleague Mohanlal expressed immense delight, affectionately calling him ‘Ichakka’ and extending heartfelt congratulations. Mohanlal has extended heartfelt wishes to his co-star Mammootty, who was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in the country. The Centre announced the Padma Awards 2026 on the eve of Republic Day.

Mohanlal took to his Facebook handle to congratulate Mammootty. He fondly called the Megastar ‘Ichakka’, which means big brother, and expressed that he was ‘absolutely delighted’ to hear about it. The Padma Awards recognise individuals from diverse fields, and Mammootty was conferred with Padma Bhushan for his contribution to the arts. “Ichakka, absolutely delighted to know you’ve been conferred the Padma Bhushan. Mammootty on the Padma Bhushan 2026 honour

Mammootty, who was conferred the Padma Bhushan on Sunday, said he was ‘very happy’. He added that there was ‘nothing greater than the country honouring one’.While presenting the Kerala State Film Awards 2024, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said it was fortunate for the present cabinet to witness Mammootty receiving the Padma Bhushan. “For several years, our cabinet had consistently recommended Mammootty for the honour. Everything has its own time, and the fact that it has finally been conferred now is deeply gratifying. We can wholeheartedly congratulate him,” the CM said.Mammootty won the Best Actor award for his performance in ‘Bramayugam’ at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards ceremony held in Thiruvananthapuram.
