Telangana high court achieves 95 percent case disposal rate, says Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh

HYDERABAD: Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh of the Telangana High Court announced on Monday that the court achieved a 95% disposal rate over the past year. During this period, approximately 79,000 new cases were instituted and 75,419 were disposed of, even as the court is operating with 70% of its judicial strength.Addressing the legal fraternity after unfurling the tricolour at the 77th Republic Day celebrations at the High Court, Chief Justice Singh emphasised investment in judicial infrastructure, terming it an investment in the rule of law, and noted that the construction of the new High Court complex at Rajendra Nagar was in good progress.Judges of the high court, former judges of the Supreme court, high court, Chairman, Bar Council of Telangana A Narsimha Reddy, Advocate General A Sudarshan Reddy, Additional Advocates General Mohd Imran Khan, T Rajnikanth Reddy, Public Prosecutor Palle Nageswar Rao, Additional Solicitor General of India B Narsimha Sharma, Deputy Solicitor General of India N Bhujanga Rao, High Court Bar Association President A Jagan, members of the bar and judicial officers participated in the event.Stating that Republic Day reminds everyone that justice is not an abstract ideal but a daily pursuit, the Chief Justice said that the spirit of the Constitution must not remain confined to institutions or courtrooms and must reach every person, every community, and every household.Tasked with the significant duty of protecting and enforcing the Constitution, the judiciary must remain acutely aware of evolving human aspirations and the complexities of conflicting rights, the Chief Justice added.Calling for the Bar and the Bench to work as complementary forces, the Chief Justice said that, as the “conscience keeper” of the Constitution, the judiciary carries an onerous responsibility, and this vigilant and efficient partnership is essential to fulfilling the collective aspirations of the people through the administration of justice.Paying homage to the extraordinary legacy of the principal architect of our Constitution, Dr BR Ambedkar, and freedom fighters to commemorate the passing of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly, the Chief Justice said their vision reflects the aspirations of millions and the wisdom of the framers who envisioned an India founded on justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. “Baba Sahib, entrusting the judiciary, trusted that the judiciary stands as the guardian of the Constitution to uphold the sovereign will of the people,” the Chief Justice said.The Chief Justice further acknowledged and expressed gratitude to the judicial officers and members of the Bar at the High Court, district, and other courts across the state for their dedication to improving the efficiency of the legal system and the disposal of cases.The Chief Justice also acknowledged the “hidden and invisible” contributions of staff members across the High Court and District Judiciary, whose collective efforts remain vital to the preservation of the Constitution and the functioning of the state’s legal machinery.
