Portman, who shares two kids with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied, says her kids are “resistant” to seeing her on the big screen, be it her iconic ‘Star Wars’ films.

During the premiere of her latest film, ‘The Gallerist’s’ premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, the actor told E! News about how her kids avoid watching anything she’s in. Natalie Portman shared, “My kids are so resistant to seeing anything that I’m in… I was always like, ‘Yeah, if you want to see it, like if some of your friends have seen it or whatever.’ And they were like ‘No, thanks.’”

Portman, who has a 14-year-old son, Aleph, and an 8-year-old daughter, Amelia, shared the reason behind her kids’ not wanting to watch her films. She believes her kids want to see her in her best role of being a mom, and she appreciates it. She put it as, “they kind of just want to see me as me, which I appreciate.”

In a previous conversation with People, Natalie Portman revealed that her kids showed interest in the animated film ‘Arco,’ which recently gained an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature. Natalie revealed that the film feels relatable to her children. Portman says the futuristic film “raised so many interesting conversations” for her children. The mom of two added, “The story dealt with very pressing issues and offered so much inspiration and hope and encouragement of imagination for children.”

Natalie Portman, who filed for a divorce from French filmmaker Benjamin Millepied in 2023 after 10 years of marriage, says that she is navigating her social life with her kids.
