Bahraich: The administration carried out a bulldozer drive on 16 houses illegally constructed on govt land. The action took place on Tuesday in the Nanpara area, where people had been living for nearly 20 years after building houses on pond and ‘khalihan’ (threshing floor) land.As a result of the encroachment removal, around five bighas of govt land has been reclaimed by the district administration. The action, taken following court directions, has created panic among other encroachers in the area.According to revenue records, land under Gata No. 280, measuring 0.1900 hectares, in Imam Nagar Gadarhwa village of Nanpara tehsil is recorded as khalihan land. Similarly, Gata No. 68, measuring 0.154 hectares, is recorded as pond land. SDM said that 16 people had constructed houses and illegally occupied the khalihan land. Notices were issued to all the encroachers but the illegal occupation was not removed. Consequently, acting on court orders, the administration demolished all the illegal structures. TNN
