Chennai: Southern Railway announced that Chennai–Bengaluru Double Decker Express will halt at Tiruvallur railway station with effect from Jan 26, 2026. However passengers pointed out that they are not able to board or alight at the station as it has not been updated on the passenger reservation system(PRS).Tiruvallur is one of the major railway stations in the suburban network, with at least one lakh commuters using the station every day. Being an important transit point, the demand for a halt for Train nos 22625/22626 Double Decker Express was pending for a long time. Though commuters welcomed the announcement, they said that though the stoppage was officially announced, Tiruvallur railway station is not yet added as a boarding and alighting point in the PRS for the fully reserved train. “As a result, passengers are currently unable to book tickets to or from Tiruvallur,” said K Bhaskar, former DRUCC member. “This should be fixed at the earliest.” he said.He also pointed out another unresolved issue in the modernized PRS system (PRS NDLS). According to him, additional charges are collected for superfast trains, but they are not printed on the paper tickets. “This has continued since Nov 2025. The issue did not exist in the earlier PRS MAS system. We emailed our grievance one month ago, but it did not receive any response,” he added.Responding to the concerns, officials from Southern Railway said it usually takes two days to a week for the system to be updated and assured that the PRS issue would be resolved at the earliest to ensure smooth travel for passengers.
