This will be DMK’s last election: EPS

Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday said the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly election would be the “last election” for the DMK. The opposition party also sharpened its attack on TVK president Vijay hours after he branded AIADMK as ‘corrupt.‘ EPS said DMK has failed to fulfil its 2021 poll promises and was exposed to the public. As a result, the ruling party has lost the support of people across the state, EPS told reporters in Chennai, after paying homage to language martyrs. “Voters would bid farewell to the DMK in the coming election and bring the AIADMK back to power,” he said. He alleged that the DMK did not deliver even a quarter of the commitments listed in its 2021 election manifesto. “The entire state has turned into a battlefield due to protests sparked by the public anger against the govt. Govt employees, nurses, teachers, teachers, doctors and noon-meal workers were holding protests against the DMK rule. Party cadres held public meetings under the banner “Veera Vanakkam Naal” on Sunday evening, observed as Tamil Language Martyrs’ Day. Former minister R B Udhayakumar said AIADMK was the only party that fulfilled the aspirations of those who died for Tamil. Meanwhile, AIADMK’s IT wing hit back at Vijay on Sunday for calling the AIADMK corrupt and accused him of making money through “black-market ticket sales”.In a post on X, the AIADMK IT wing rejected Vijay’s allegation that the AIADMK had a history of being “slaves of the Union govt,” saying the party had repeatedly fought for TN’s rights.
