Gandhinagar: On the eve of the state-level 77th Republic Day function, which will be held at Vav-Tharad on Monday, chief minister Bhupendra Patel laid the foundation stone of the new District Seva Sadan building on Sunday. The facility will be constructed over 39 acres at an estimated cost of around Rs 70 crore, an official statement said.Speaking to a gathering at the event, the CM said that the new building and its facilities will provide easier access to govt services for citizens. “The objective is to provide services of multiple govt departments from a single location, saving time and resources for the people while improving administrative efficiency,” he said.
Govt said newly created districts are being equipped with integrated service centres to streamline public service delivery. The upcoming District Seva Sadan in Vav-Tharad will house the office of the district collector, along with more than 30 district-level offices of various state govt departments.The building will be developed following green building norms. Facilities planned for the complex include a solar rooftop system, rainwater harvesting infrastructure, a large meeting hall, modern lift systems, and basement parking.On Sunday, the CM also laid the foundation stone of a new industrial estate that will be set up by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) at Dudhwa in Vav-Tharad district. The new industrial estate will come up over an area of 99.23 acres of govt land in Dudhwa.Patel said that setting up the industrial estate will accelerate development of the newly formed district. He expressed his confidence that Vav-Tharad will match other districts of the state in terms of infrastructure and development.An official statement said assembly speaker Shankar Chaudhary thanked the state govt for opening up new avenues of development in the border district. Chaudhary said that production of crops, including pomegranates, shifted from the region to Rajkot, but with the establishment of GIDC in Dudhwa, value addition of agricultural produce will happen locally.
