Lucknow. To recover dues from defaulters, the state government (Yogi Government) has started the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) from December 15. In this sequence, 135 camps will be set up in different power substations, Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer and Chief Engineer offices of the capital Lucknow.
Discounts will be given in three phases in the camp. In the first phase, registrations can be done from 15 to 31 December. Not only this, 100 percent surcharge will also be waived off if the entire dues are deposited in lump sum.

Officials said that in the first phase, registration will be done from 15 to 31 December. In the second phase, registration will be done from 1 to 15 January and in the third phase, registration will be done from 16 to 31 January to avail the benefit of One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS).

Under the scheme, consumers can register for surcharge waiver in five ways. These include domestic commercial, private institutions, industries and private tube well defaulters. Consumers can avail the benefit of OTS by registering on uppcl.org.in.
100% discount on surcharge on lump sum deposit
On depositing the dues in lump sum, the consumer will get 100 percent discount on surcharge. Meanwhile, Director Yogesh Kumar said that if the defaulters do not register for OTS and avail the benefit, then the process of disconnecting their connections for dues will be accelerated.
135 camps were organized in Lucknow and 413 camps in Madhyanchal
Director of Commercial Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited Yogesh Kumar said that the defaulters can avail the benefits of the scheme from today i.e. 15th December. 135 camps have been set up in the capital and 413 in Madhyanchal. As long as consumers keep coming to the camps, the offices will remain open and they will be able to avail the benefits of the scheme.
Post paid smart meters will be converted to pre-paid
Apart from this, electricity consumers should be careful because from next year your post paid smart meters are going to be converted into pre-paid ones. The electricity department is soon going to convert the smart meters installed in the consumers’ homes into pre-paid ones. Right now these meters are post paid but in the coming few months they will be converted into pre-paid ones. After this, consumers will be able to recharge their electricity according to their needs. This system will be applicable to 94 lakh consumers of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
