Ahmedabad: The flurry of emails threatening schools with bomb attacks has prompted the City School Management Association to issue an advisory directing all school administrators not to take such threats lightly and to deal with them by following established security protocols.Several schools in the city recently received emails warning of bomb attacks. The management body circulated detailed guidelines to ensure the safety of students and staff. As most schools are currently witnessing increased footfall because of the special intensive revision of the voters’ list, schools were asked to be extra cautious to prevent the entry of suspicious individuals. Administrators were instructed to ensure that security guards are not assigned any duties other than gate security so they can keep a watch on visitors. The advisory also states that schools should immediately inform police or govt after noting key details of the threat emails. Schools were directed to devise an emergency response plan and brief all staff members about it. Further instructions include maintaining updated contact lists of emergency services such as police, fire brigade, ambulances, and nearby hospitals.
