Nampally fire chokes traffic

Hyderabad: A major fire at a furniture shop in Nampally on Saturday disrupted traffic, forcing police to impose diversions and urge commuters to avoid the area. The blaze broke out around 1 pm, filling the locality with dense smoke and severely affecting movement on Nampally station road and nearby stretches.Police diverted vehicles to ease congestion and ensure smooth access for emergency services. Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar advised the public to postpone visits to the Numaish exhibition, citing safety concerns and traffic congestion. Though the fire was brought under control, smoke inside the building delayed rescue and inspection work.The district administration also appealed to the public to stay away from Nampally, while additional traffic personnel were deployed at key junctions. Further advisories will be issued as the situation evolves.
